Sri Lanka is a beautiful country located south of India. It is approximately the size of Ireland with a population of 20 million people.
On 26th December 2004, the South of Sri Lanka was struck by a devastating Tsunami. Thousands of people were killed and much of
the countries infrastructure was destroyed, as were schools, hospitals and thousands of homes. Over 25,000 children lost one or both
parents.

The total distance from ireland to sri lanka is 5,794 miles.
This is equivalent to 9,324 kilometers or 5,035 nautical miles.
Our charity was founded by Brian Brennan from Arklow, Co Wicklow. Brian travelled to Sri Lanka after the Tsunami struck and was
moved by the harrowing events. After a massive fund raising campaign in Arklow, Brian had a Girls Orphanage built and opened
within 7 months. Kildare businessman Jerry Conlan started the Kildare fund and to date has funded a girls orphanage
which opened in November 2007 and a boys orphanage due to open in November 2008. To date over €2 Million has been raised by
the communities of Arklow, Kildare, Wexford & Cork. Overall there are now 6 Orphanages, 2 Montessori Schools & 2 Training Colleges completed.
Of all funds raised, not one single cent has been spent on overheads. Between the Orphanages & the Colleges, we are currently looking after
the needs of over 500 children. The orphanages are built from scratch using indigenous labour which provides a much needed boost to the local
economy. All the projects are managed locally, to date by religious orders.
